Benefits of Conversational Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help people overcome their shortcomings. Hypnosis can unravel the guards that have been set by the conscious mind and delve into the subconscious mind. Conversational hypnosis is quite an effective method to help people overcome their qualms or help the person see your point of view.

What is conversational hypnosis? First let us understand the principles of hypnosis. Hypnosis is nothing but an induced state of relaxation. In this state the subject is relaxed and hence does not have any perceptions or guards. In this deep state of meditation, the subject is made to overcome all the inhibitions and hence can work out the solution.

Conversational hypnosis is nothing but practical hypnosis. This is a hypnosis technique based on establishing rapport with the subject and confusing and then offering a suggestion to the subject which you would like the subject to follow.

What are the benefits of conversational hypnosis?

1. It can be used to boost sales: Have you ever encountered a sales man who just seems to know what you are thinking and convinces you to buy his product? Well, most of these people use conversational hypnosis. They build a rapport with you, empathize with you and become your friends. Once they do that, then they offer you various choices and that leaves you confused. Then you ask them about their suggestion since they are your friends and that's where they go in for the kill!

2. It can be used in relationships: Very often we are not able to make relatives and friends understand our point of view. Thus it can help to foster bonds and make relationships stronger. It can also help people to come around to your way of thinking

3. Helping people to understand what they really want: sometimes we all get confused about what we really want and insist on following the herd mentality. Here conversational hypnosis can help people to understand their priorities and set their goals right

4. Managing teenage behavior: Teenagers can be quite difficult to handle. Conversational hypnotherapy can help conquer their rebellious attitude and help them understand what they want. Teenagers can sometimes follow the wrong path just to defy others. Here conversational hypnotherapy can help them to sort out their thinking

What are the disadvantages of conversational hypnotherapy?

Like everything else, there are two sides to the story. Conversational hypnotherapy can be used to influence people towards wrong ideas and wrong paths as well. People can use conversational hypnotherapy to induce people to follow wrong ideas like terrorism and fundamentalism. In fact, this therapy is used by terrorist outfits around the world.

Conversational hypnotherapy is a powerful tool in the hands of people who know it. It can greatly influence a person's way of thinking and interacting with people. If you know conversational hypnotherapy, it can give you power to change your relationships and also help you to foster new bonds.

There are many benefits of knowing how to use conversational hypnosis. If you click these links you can learn about my experience with conversational hypnosis, and about one of its masters Igor Ledochowski

Use Hypnosis to Change Your Life and to Achieve your Goals

Did you know that you can use hypnosis to change your life and achieve your goals? Hypnosis is an amazing mind-body state. Although it's been understood for thousands of years, no one quite knows how or why it works as well as it does, or even what it is.

In this article, we're going to look at how hypnosis, which is essentially just deep relaxation, helps you to success.

Start by creating a goal you'd like to achieve. This goal may be simple: you may want to eliminate a habit like over-eating, or procrastinating. Or your goal may be larger. Perhaps you want to increase your income, eliminate debt, or gain self-confidence.

Although hypnosis is a widely popular method for removing phobias and bad habits, you can also use it to become the person you'd like to be.

Write down your goal.

Hypnosis Reprograms Your Mind

Hypnosis works by reprogramming your mind. The hypnotherapist induces a state of deep relaxation and then makes suggestions to you.

We're all susceptible to the power of suggestion - we receive suggestions all day every day, from advertising, from our friends and colleagues and from ourselves. However, when you're awake and alert, you'll dismiss most of the suggestions you receive. This is just as well, otherwise your life would be unbearable.

In hypnosis, the analytical part of your mind is temporarily in abeyance, so suggestions are accepted by your subconscious mind, and your behavior changes accordingly.

Achieve Any Goal You Set

Hypnosis is a low-stress method of changing your attitude towards your goals, and changing your behavior so that you actually start working towards achieving those goals.

Using hypnosis, you can set goals in any area of your life. You can improve your working life, your social life, your health and your finances.

Learn Self-Hypnosis

The easiest way to use hypnosis to achieve your goals is to learn self-hypnosis. In self-hypnosis, you become your own hypnotherapist. You can create your own inductions (the preliminary stage of hypnosis, during which you relax completely) and your own scripts.

Once you've created a script, you can either repeat it to yourself once you're deeply relaxed, or you can record the script, and can play it to yourself.

When you're learning self-hypnosis it's useful to have one or two sessions with a hypnotherapist, so you know how it feels to be hypnotized. When you first become familiar with hypnosis, it's common to feel that "nothing's happening", until you realize that your behavior has indeed changed.

Three Weeks to Success

Sometimes hypnosis works instantly. You have one session, and get the results you want. However, usually you're want to have multiple sessions. This allows the suggestions to sink deeply into your mind, and your new behaviors to become deeply integrated.

Therefore, when you buy a hypnosis CD or tape, use the program several times a week for at least three weeks. It takes three weeks to change a behavior. You will find that you're changing well before the end of three weeks, but keep listening to the program.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool. If you take the time to learn self-hypnosis, you will have a tool you can use for life, to create the life of your dreams... simply by relaxing, and listening.

Hypnosis can change your life for the better. You can eliminate challenges, and achieve any goals you set. Want to know more about the power of hypnosis and self-hypnosis? Visit Discover Hypnosis Now at http://discoverhypnosisnow.com/

How To Use Mind Control To Make Your Dreams Reality

Imagine knowing how to send people secret messages which must be obeyed, the ability to persuade and influence people to do anything you desire? No this is not science fiction and it isn't conspiracy theory. This technology is commonly known as "Silent Sound" and was reportedly used during the Persian Gulf War by the United States on Iraqi troops. During the war the Iraq Military Command and Control System was destroyed and Iraqi troops were forced to use commercial radio frequencies. These channels were hijacked by the US Psyops team and vague, confusing and contradictory military orders were broadcast to the Iraqi troops. Captured Iraqi soldiers reported feeling entirely demoralized and overcome with fear and hopelessness as a result of listening to the broadcasts.

Silent sound involves recording spoken commands, filtering and changing their frequency using Frequency Modulation and adjusting them so they are outside of the normal auditory spectrum. Although we can't physically hear what is being said our brain receives and understands every word. These commands can be hidden on audio Cd's and MP3 files, played to you whilst you are browsing websites, sent to you whilst you watch the television or listen to the radio and you are completely unaware of the fact that you are being brainwashed!

This technology does not have to be used in such a negative way however, I used it with great success to overcome a 25 year chronic addiction to alcohol. I never imagined I would be able to beat alcoholism until I discovered Binaural Beats ."Binaural beats are auditory brainstem responses which originate in the superior olivary nucleus of each hemisphere. They result from the interaction of two different auditory impulses, originating in opposite ears, below 1000 Hz and which differ in frequency between one and 30 Hz" (Oster, 1973)

Oster observed that when two sound frequencies are sent to the brain individually via each ear (for example, through stereo headphones), the two hemispheres of the brain work together to create a third phantom signal. This signal is referred to as a "binaural beat" and it pulses at the exact numerical difference between the two tones. For example, if a signal of 200 CPS (Cycles Per Second) is introduced to the left ear and a 210 CPS signal to the right,CPS a binaural beat of 10CPS (or Hertz) is created. Research has shown that first small areas of the brain and, gradually large areas of the brain start to resonate sympathetically with the "phantom" binaural beat. This is due to what is termed as the "Frequency Following Response". Further research has proven that binaural beat frequencies can influence the brain to enter specific brain states. This happens effortlessly as your brain activity aligns itself with the frequency of the binaural beat.

In layman's terms it means you can create tones to create a desired brainwave state. For example, meditation, deep sleep, lucid dreaming, astral projection, creativity increase, stress reduction, relaxation, super learning, intuition etc.

Combine binaural beats with Silent sound and you have an extremely powerful tool which can yield outstanding results. I was a chronic alcoholic for over 25 years and when I stopped drinking I used binaural beats associated with alcohol addiction and added my own positive affirmations which I then encoded with Silent Sound. I would listen to the track for twenty minutes each day and after a week had passed I no longer had a craving for alcohol. I've been off alcohol for 2 years now, have never had a relapse and I can say with confidence that I will never drink again.

There is always alcohol around me and it doesn't bother me at all, that to me provides undeniable proof that this technology works. How many people who have given up drinking can say that they have never had a relapse? I did not need anything apart from binaural beats and Silent Sound, I did not need willpower either, it really was easy! I believe that the semantic connection I had within my brain associated with alcoholism was completely removed, it was as if I had never been addicted in the first place.

I discovered that by combining Silent sound with binaural beats I could easily reprogram my mind in any way I chose. It was possible to increase my motivation and creativity, reach blissful states of meditation and also remove depression and stress. This technology has completely transformed my life. I do not use this technology on other people however, as I believe that to do so would be morally wrong, but its possible applications fascinate me nonetheless.

Imagine if you wanted to influence other people and make them do whatever you wanted them to. All you would need to do would be to create a digital recording of verbal commands, encode them with Silent Sound technology and then play the recordings to your target. It would be easy to implement the commands on a website and to broadcast the commands to an unsuspecting public. You would be able to entice people to buy your products and they would be completely unaware of the fact that you were influencing them.

If you are interested in this technology and would like to learn how to use it ethically then I recommend that you visit binauralsound.com Please ensure that you turn off all sound before visiting the website otherwise you will become a victim of mind control and will be possessed with an insatiable desire to purchase the products you see there. (only kidding!)

Hypnotic Secrets

Hypnosis is about getting the mind so relaxed that it is more receptive to commands. Hypnosis has been around since 4 B.C and has been extremely controversial subject ever since. In this article, I am going to discuss hypnotic commands you can put in your copy. It's one thing to have an effective sales letter that flows logically, knocks down objection, and ask for the sale. But it's more powerful to interject hypnotic elements that intensify the desire you want your customer to feel.

Putting hypnotic command in your copy can put you head and shoulders above your competition who are clueless about these secret tactics. Now obviously you don't want to put your readers to sleep. Not by a long short. What am talking about is placing hypnotic elements in the copy that makes the writing irresistible which increase the chance customer will act based on what they've read.

Have you ever read a story and felt time pass you by quickly? You're so enthralled in the text that you look at the clock and realize that two hours went by but it seem like two minutes? During that time, someone might have tried to say something to you, but they didn't get your attention because you were entranced in the text. Face it, you were hypnotized. And that's what I want your customers to feel when they read your copy!

A Warning Before You Use Hypnotic Command:

Before you implement these hypnotic secrets into your copy am about to reveal make sure they must be used ethically because the elements are so powerful. If you're selling something that is of worthwhile value to someone, then hypnotic commands can help "edge" the customer towards making a sale. However, if you are relying on these hypnotic command to "fool" the customer into buying a scam product, then you shouldn't be in this business.

Remember, you're not using hypnotic elements to manipulate people. You cannot convince people to do something that they don't have latent desire to do. You're using hypnotic elements to make your copy more persuasive and irresistible.

Hypnotic Stories

People love stories, I'm sure when you were a child, you had your parents read the same children's book over and over again. A good story will keep hold people's attention. That's why you need to have a good story in your copy.

When writing your sales letter, think of how you can tell a captivating story that indirectly shows the customer that what you're selling will solve their problem or fulfill a desire. You'll be able to escape people's "mental radar" and emphasize your selling points without appearing too salesy.

Another important thing you need to remember, always make sure you insert quotes into your story. A line with quotes inserted makes the story come alive. That's why having quotes around a headline increase respond because it gives the reader a sense that the letter is speaking directly out loud to them. These quotes will also attract reader's eyes as they scan down the page.

Hypnotic Embedded Commands

Now I am going to discuss using direct commands that also evade people's mental radars. Take these two example. Which statement get your guard up if you were to read them in a sales letter?

  • Read every word of this article

or the following story ...

  • As you read every word of this article, you'll discover the secret of Alvin Phang and how you can harness them to make your blog a money maker.

Obviously, if you read the first sentence , you resistance will go up because you feel that the reader did not formed a good rapport with you. In fact, you might feel the author was trying to force you to read.

Whereas if the command was hidden in an innocent sentence, you will feel a friendly tone that the reader was talking to you and your your guard would be down and you'd be more than likely to take action on that command.

In writing, italicizing or putting the command in bold would delineate the command. It makes your prospect see the bold face part as a command, since it is embedded in the context of a friendly sentence, it will slip through someone's mental radar and into their unconscious.

You see, it's all about escaping the left side (the logical, critical side) of the brain. They don't know that they are being given a command. With that you can gain compliance effortlessly, without sounding like you're trying to pressure people.

Embedded command can be inserted anywhere in the copy. I like to embed a call to action command like: "Buy It Now" or "Take Action Today" when I close a letter. These words by themselves would agitate the left side of the brain that will raises skepticism. But in the context of a sentence, it evades the critical side of the brain and commands the prospect without their knowing.

Hypnotic Presupposition

The brain can usually focus on one thing at a time. That means it is literally to presupposed (assume) and accept suggestion as facts. That's why putting presuppositions in your copy is so powerful. Below is an example of a presupposition:

"What will you do with the extra $500, $5000 even $10000 per month you'll earn when you implement Alvin Pahng's Atomic Blogging into Your online business?"

Since you are asking the prospect question, they are forced to answer it in their mind. And in order to answer the question the prospect has to assume they already have the money. Therefore, the sentence does two things:

  1. Assume that they have the money thanks to Alvin Phang's Atomic Blogging, thus heightening desire for the product.
  2. Makes their mind imagine the benefits they'll get when they're assuming they already have.

The second point is extremely important. By telling a prospect to imagine what their life would be like with the money, you are actually printing a picture in their minds. This is much powerful than giving suggestion as to what they can do with the money.

Every prospect has different needs and desire that can be triggered by a presupposition. You'll be able to tailor your copy based on their individual needs. I hope hypnotic writing is beneficial for you. There is absolutely nothing sneaky about this as long as you're selling a product that is genuinely going to help people.

I'm glad to see that you are reading this right now. Not just because I know how powerful my content is, but it shows that you understand where you should be spending your time.

If you have something you like to add just post your comments at : http://www.empiredotcom.com/

By applying what you read, you will find that living your dream isn't far off as you think.

Third Eye Hypnosis

The Mind's Eye. The Inner Eye. If you've heard these two phrases before then most likely you've heard of the Third Eye. It is believed that everyone has three eyes: two are physical (they're plain as the eyes can see); the third eye is spiritual; and when opened either through meditation or third eye hypnosis, you unlock the door to numerous possibilities of looking in to the future.

Chances are you've had a few intuitive moments before in your past: you've thought of a friend you haven't talked with in awhile, and the next day she called. You've thought of an episode from one of your favorite television shows and the following night it was on TV. This is more than a mere coincidence. This is you glimpsing at your psychic self. When you open your third eye, you open yourself up to even more psychic abilities because the eye is the site where we receive psychic impressions.

The Third Eye is associated with the pineal gland in the brain. The pineal gland is dormant in most people. French philosopher Rene Descartes believed the pineal gland to be "the seat of the soul" where mind and body intersect. In most, the pineal gland is dormant. When you meditate or use third eye hypnosis to open the eye, you bring that gland to life. You literally open your eye up to a whole other spiritual world.

Once you've opened your third eye, you may develop certain new abilities: telepathy, telekinesis, clairvoyance. You may see auras, chakras, or spirit beings. You may also experience precognition, which is the ability to see into the future. There's a whole new spiritual world at your fingertips.

So see what the world holds for you (and others); open your third eye through meditation or third eye hypnosis.

Hypnosis for Panic Attacks

Has this ever been you: You're driving to work. You left at a decent time to avoid the early morning traffic (or so you thought), but you're merging onto the interstate and you notice cars lined up as far as the eyes could see. You enter the right line of traffic and noticed cars are at a complete stand still. No one is moving. This can't be. You have a big presentation to make. You have to get to work on time. Your chest begins to tighten because you have this fear that you're not going to make it or you may even get fired. You can't breathe. It feels as if you are having a heart attack. It feels as if your car is closing in around you. You can't breathe. You're going to suffocate. Your chest hurts. If you can relate, you've suffered from a panic attack; and though, many people will have one or two panic attacks in their lifetimes, but if you are one who has attacks frequently, it could mean you have a disorder. There is hope, though, with hypnosis for panic attacks. Your world won't feel like it's ending anymore.

Panic attacks were once dismissed as just stress induced or nerves that were acting up, but they are now looked at as a real medical condition, and without proper treatment, they can take over your life. Panic attacks can make your heart pound and make you feel you are short of breath or dizzy. You may feel nauseous or flushed. Symptoms closely associated with panic attacks include, but are not limited to: accelerated heart rate, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, hyperventilation, chills, hot flashes, nausea, cramping, chest pain, headache, dizziness, faintness, trouble swallowing, and a sense of impending death. Panic attacks are very serious, and they begin suddenly, without warning. They may peak after 10 minutes or may last an entire hour.

But there is hope when you seek hypnosis for panic attacks as part of your treatment. Through hypnosis, you can change thinking patterns that trigger your fears and attacks. The power of suggestion will help you change how you react to anxious or fearful situations. You will be able to control your fears.

Panic attacks are hard to manage on your own, and may get worse without proper treatment. By undergoing hypnosis for panic attacks you are taking hold of your life one day, and breath, at a time.

Does Hypnosis Work?

The question is often asked- Does hypnosis work? Before that can be determined, hypnosis must be understood. Hypnosis is a practice that takes a person out of their conscious mind and moves them into their subconscious mind. Hypnosis works, "by bringing a subject into a peculiar state of consciousness with reduced peripheral awareness accompanied by strictly focused attention."

The word hypnosis was coined by James Braid and means "nervous sleep." However it must be noted that hypnosis is not really sleep at all. What separates the two are alpha brain waves. These brain waves are very high during hypnosis but are extremely low during sleep. In the same way, a person who is asleep cannot hear, until they begin to awake whereas a person undergoing hypnosis is able to hear very well.

Hypnosis differs from sleep, and it also differs from relaxation and mediation. Meditation has an inner focus whereas hypnosis is geared at the subject focusing on something outside of himself. Hypnosis is a very real practice that is used to help people combat any number of problems including obesity, depression, phobias, and nicotine addiction.

Other problems it has been known to help include stomach disorders, skin conditions, recovery from surgery, childbirth, nausea, impotence and migraine headaches. Delving into the subconscious mind helps peel back the layers to get to the root of many problems. Once that is uncovered, a solution for the problem can then be found.

How does hypnosis work? The subject is awake but is placed into a daydreamlike state and is sitting in a comfortable position. The patient's mind becomes approximately 10 times as concentrated and focused as it would be in a conscious state. At the same time, the body becomes 10 times as calm and relaxed. The two elements need to come together to allow the patient to be in their subconscious mind.

Does hypnosis work? According to the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association the answer to this is a resounding yes. Both associations have seen a number of cases where hypnosis has helped patients to recover from a number of physical and mental problems. The National Institute of Health points to the fact that pregnant women who have been hypnotized or who have learned to hypnotize themselves have less painful deliveries and tend to be in labor for shorter periods of time than do other women.

Hypnosis is not a formula for success for everyone as some people are believed to be able to be hypnotized easier than others. However for those searching for a way to rid them of a bad habit or get rid of a phobia, it is certainly a safe and reasonable method of treatment to try.

Instant Hypnosis to Amaze Anyone You Meet!

The Power of Chevreul's Hypnotic-Pendulum

History... In the 1800's, tales of spiritualist phenomenon were on the increase. Many of the weird and wonderful characters that are often thought of today as charlatans, were plying their trade in the middle and upper classes of western Europe and America. They frequently demonstrated tables flying around the room with people barely touching them, spirits making contact through pendulums, and ouiji boards revealing insights from the great beyond. Not only were they making a good living from their arts and capturing public attention, they were also producing phenomenon that was catching the attention of the scientific community.

One man who was keeping a keen eye on the paranormal goings on was Michel- Eugene Chevreul, a highly thought of French chemist. Chevreul was a man who believed highly in the laws of science, and whose scientific skills were more than up to the task of making scientific breakthroughs and accurate observations. In fact Chevreul was so highly thought of that on his 100th birthday in 1886 a gold medal was minted for the occasion, which was celebrated as a national event in France. He was honoured with a public funeral and commemorative statue at his death in 1889, at the age of 102. Now as a nationally acclaimed scientist in France, Chevreul was an empassioned enemy of charlatarian phenomonem. He was not only Sceptical, but determined to prove them wrong. He couldn't.

After undertaking many studies into many of the phenomonem, Chevreul found out the many of the phenomenom were real. However the cause of the phenomenom turned out to prove far more interesting than even the spiritualists had been claiming! What Chevreul found was that the movement was caused not by spirits and paranormal phenomenom, but involuntary muscle movements that were outside of the persons conscious awareness. This internally constructed phenomenom became known as ideomotor movements. The person was making the movements themselves but was not aware of it, and neither were others watching. The persons unconscious was taking responsible for the movements.

What does all this mean?

This meant that it was possible to communicate with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind being the area of the mind that controls everything outside of our awareness, our blood pressure, the release of hormones, the area that regulates our mood, our temperature and many other thousands of processes. However, it also provided an explanation for many of the paranormal phenomenon being branded around by the spiritualists. Automatic handwriting, mind-reading (muscle reading), table turning, dowsing, and the paranormal pendulum! So when people were holding onto a glass on a ouiji board they were claiming spirits were moving the glass, and they had no control of it, whilst the scientific community were arguing that at least one of them was in fact moving the glass, and were defrauding the others. They were both right. As the scientists claimed the subjects were moving the glass, but as the spiritualists claimed they really didn't have any awareness that they were moving it!

So we now have a phenomenon that's not controlled by outside forces, but by internal ones. We have a phenomenon that can demonstrate to others the power of our unconscious mind, to make movements without making movements, to make decisions without having to make decisions. Our unconscious, the area that has far more control over our body's internal processes, the area that has far more information surrounding our lives than just our conscious awareness does, was now communicating with us.

How to use it...

Hold a pendulum in your dominant (writing) hand. And make it fall still so it is hanging straight down. Then without moving your hand just begin to think 'Left....Right...Left....Right' in your mind over and over. Will the pendulum to move left and right, in time with how it should move to the left, and then back to the right. Just hear the words 'Left....Right...Left....Right', in your head, even say them out loud to yourself. Visualize the pendulum moving 'Left....Right...Left....Right', see it in your mind moving 'Left....Right...Left....Right', and without moving your arm feel the momentum of the pendulum moving 'Left....Right...Left....Right' over and over. When the pendulum moves to left in your mind, feel, hear, and see it moving left, as it swings back to the right, feel, hear, and see it moving to the right. But don't consciously move your arm. Focus solely on the pendulum moving, beginning to swing to across a left and right axis in front of you. It may help to be in a place where there is no distractions, and you can focus on nothing but that pendulum there moving.

Once you have mastered this, Then change direction. Stop the pendulum and repeat the process, but this time feel the pendulum moving back and forth, back and forth. Then maybe moving round and round, round and round. Feel how powerful a movement you can get without moving your arm, just by thinking, by willing that pendulum to move. Now if you want to have a more clear signal of the movements you can add a signal board (see below) which will give you a clear guideline of how your pendulum is moving. Just hold the pendulum over the board and will it along the axis.

You now have the perfect tool to help you connect with your unconscious mind, and to help friends connect with theirs. If you want to demonstrate the power of the mind to friends this is it! Just get them to repeat the same process you've gone through.

How to make your own...

- The pendulum: A pendulum consists of a long piece of material that has movement to it, with a weight at the end. This can be a traditional crystal pendant available from alternative health shops. Or, as I use, it can be a necklace or chain that you wear around your neck, with a ring threaded on to create the weight. You can make your own with string and a plumbing washer, or any other method you can think of. I personally like to use my chain as I always have it with me, and can use it anytime, anywhere to provide hypnotic demonstrations to people. You can buy necklaces and pendants to wear that work perfectly as a hypnotic pendulum. There are no real rules for the pendulum, except does it swing? If it does it will probably work. So use things like a small pocket watch, or whistle on a string if that's all you have available.

- The Signal Board: The signal board can be created in many ways, with the different possible answers written on it. Here's an example: Just draw a cross as above (the circle is optional) and choose two opposing suggestions, one written on both ends of the vertical axis, and one written on both ends of the horizontal axis. Above you can see the suggestion for the pendulum to move left and right written on the horizontal axis, and the suggestion to move up and down written on the vertical axis. You can substitute these suggestions with your own, but these are the basic, and arguably most effective suggestions, as they are very clear for your unconscious to provide movements for.

A Stage further...

Now, our unconscious minds are an infinitely powerful resource. Our unconscious minds have access to far more information than we do, which is limited by the span of our attention. Our unconscious mind is also there to protect us. For example when a fly comes near our eye, automatically we blink (automatic movement, ring any bells?) to protect ourselves. We do not consciously think 'Oh there's a fly coming towards our eye, should we move? Or maybe it will miss? Will it matter if does hit us in the eye? Is it definitely a fly? Ok I'll move, but in what direction?'.

If we consciously went through this process we would end up with a fly in the eye! Now because of this many people believe in trusting your intuition or gut instinct. This is really a metaphor for the tendencies we pick up off of our unconscious mind. So you can use the hypnotic pendulum to get more in touch with your unconscious or intuitive decision making capabilities. All you do is this: Hold a question in your mind. For example let's say you're not sure whether to buy a new Harmony CD. You hold the question in your mind... "Should I buy a new Harmony CD....Should I buy a new Harmony CD..." and repeat it over and over, over and over, and wait for your unconscious to give you an answer. In this case 'Yes' or 'no' on the signal board via your pendulum. The question can be anything, just change the answers on your signal board! This will give you an intuitive answer, which won't be burdened with conscious pressures. (Please read the warning below before putting this into practice!).

Warning!

The purpose of the Hypnotic Pendulum at this moment in time is to give you a tool by which you can demonstrate, to yourself and to others, some hypnotic phenomenon. It should not be made to make life altering decisions. Obviously this will be patently obvious to most of you! But feel free to use it to make decisions whereby there is no consequence in the decision. Use it for a bit fun and for training your mind to experience hypnotic phenomenon, which will put you more in touch with your unconscious mind. If you're at a party and want to demonstrate something interesting, pull out your Hypnotic-Pendulum! If you want to train you mind, then use it to make small insignificant decisions about things that really doesn't matter which decision you make. Do not use it to decide whether you should invest in the local snake oil salesman's inflatable dart board business!

Have fun!

Learn Hypnosis And Live Your Dream Life

Would you believe it's possible to live the life you've always dreamed about if you simply learn hypnosis strategies and use them each and every day?

Well, as far-fetched as it sounds, there are people who have done this and practice the techniques they learned every day with huge success. So who are these people and what do they do for a living?

It's pretty likely you already know some of them. Perhaps that friendly sales clerk who somehow convinced you to buy a higher-ticket item than you originally planned on getting used a few subtle hypnosis tactics. Or the car salesman that helped you see how you could afford the more expensive car without really feeling the pinch.

Good sales people use hypnotic tactics all the time. They have a way about them that gets you to open up to them and allow them to find the right buttons to push to get the results they want from you. But sales professionals aren't the only ones who do this.

Any time you get talked into something you planned not to do, chances are that some hypnosis techniques were used on you without your knowledge. You see, an average person who has learned how to do hypnosis can lead you to do things their way rather than your way. They do this with a technique called conversational hypnosis.

As the name suggests, this type of hypnosis uses conversational strategies to gain a person's trust and and then make suggestions to them. Because you have established rapport in a certain way with someone, they tend to be more open to taking your subtle suggestions and actually acting on them as if the idea were their own.

Those who are skilled at conversational hypnosis know how to get someone to want to do the things on their own and believe they came up with the idea themselves. The results are much more powerful this way than to tell someone to do something. You can avoid someone having a negative or stubborn reaction by using the technique properly.

Of course there are right ways and wrong ways to go about using conversational hypnosis. If fact, with certain mistakes you'll actually alienate people rather than draw them closer to you - which definitely qualifies as a backfire in your plans. The best and most affordable way to learn hypnosis strategies is to grab a copy of an online hypnosis training course and study it over. You'll find that there are some good quality ones available for instant download and learning.

Tired of everyone taking advantage of you? Conversational hypnosis techniques can help you get what you want out of life. Don't get left behind - learn hypnosis today.

The Power Of NLP And Hypnosis

Fear of flying? Heights make you dizzy? Can't bear spiders? Terrified of animals? These fears and more can be eliminated fast.

Let me give you in-depth advice on how you can get momentum within yourself to crash through the barriers and hurdles that are stopping you from achieving and getting what you want from life. What ever the problem, come to the people who care.

Some people really find it tough and struggle with fears and phobias, whilst others with the same issues seem to go through the day with not a care in the world. Hypnotherapy NLP, and CBT offer an effective help in treating fears and phobias. These therapies will help you to relax mentally and physically and will train your mind to react more appropriately when feeling tense. Fears and phobias are learned responses that probably have built up over the years. A combination of Hypnosis, NLP and CBT can help you overcome and after treatment you will place less importance to these disturbing thoughts, becoming more relaxed and having less doubt and worry.

Shelia came to see me because she was afraid of flying. She had booked many flights in the past and always ended up canceling at the last minute. She felt by doing this she had let her family down her friends and herself. Despite talking to many people close to her, she was unable to make herself take a trip on a plane.

Peter was a businessman who came to see me some time ago. After gaining promotion, he was required to make regular plane journeys to Europe to attend meetings as part of his job.

Unfortunately he had never been on a plane in his life due to the fear of flying. As a result all family holidays had been in the form of car journeys or ferry journeys. Peter was extremely worried that his fear could cost him his promotion.

Caroline had a fear of needles. Every time she had to visit the doctor, even if it was something unrelated to needles she had a terrible fear that a needle would have to be used. Since she was a teenager she had fainted at the sight of a hypodermic or needle even before an injection had been given to her.

Mrs N. had a terrible fear of spiders. Although she held down a very important job where she was in charge of many people, the mere sight of a spider had her experiencing hot sweats, palpitations and the feeling of great fear.

Melanie visited us because she had a driving test coming up very shortly. Although a competent driver, in a test situation she became so nervous that she made many mistakes, and this had already cost her the failure of two tests, which her driving instructor could not understand.

Mark visited us for treatment for a very common fear - the one of dentists. Although in work and social situations he was an out-going, confident character, even the thought of visiting a dentist made him extremely nervous to the point where he was losing sleep in the days running up to an appointment.

Susan had a fear that any food she ate would be poisonous or do her harm. Unless she had prepared the food herself, she could not bring herself to eat it. This played havoc with her social life as she would not eat in restaurants or cafes, or even eat food prepared by friends or family. David experienced terrible panic attacks when in a crowded public place. He would suffer from palpitations, sweating and a terrible fear and a need to 'get out.' This obviously affected both his work and social life, as he suffered both in shops, busy towns etc, and also in enclosed offices and meeting rooms with other people.

Using NLP and hypnotherapy these issues were quickly and safely remedied.

I can help with Fear of washing or bathing. Fear of itching or of the insects that cause itching. Fear of sourness. Fear of darkness. Fear of noise. Fear of heights. Fear of drafts, air swallowing, or airborne noxious substances. Fear of open high places. Fear of vomiting secondary to air sickness. Fear of insanity. Fear of pain, Fear of dentists, Fear of the dentist, Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places.

Andrew specialises in helping people make inner changes with smoking cessation, weight control, panic attacks, stress management, IBS, confidence, self esteem, insomnia, public speaking, sports performance, anxiety, fears and study skills using Hypnotherapy and the latest stress management techniques including advanced McKenna therapies. Andrew also takes time out to give talks on his work throughout the North West of England.

Conversational Hypnosis - This Is How You Do It

Many people may recall a scene from Star Wars when one of them looks at one of the guards and is able to make him believe that the wanted people that were there were not the ones he is seeking, that is what is known as conversational hypnosis and wouldn't you love to have it?

Ok, so maybe it is not quite that simple, but the principles of conversational hypnosis show it as a well thought out manipulations and different strategies that will hopefully bring people around to your way of thinking. When the principles of conversational hypnosis were first introduced by the great hypnotist Milton Erickson, he said that these trance like states were really not that rare and that possibly people end up in these "trances" many times during the day. It may be while waiting in traffic or even if deeply into a book they are reading. He also thought that if you were to overtly try to bring about this trance or give the subject any straight out directions and if the person was unwilling it normally leads to resistance. He preferred using his principles of rapport, indirect suggestions and confusion to produce the type of trance that he wanted in order to influence their thoughts.

The principles of conversational hypnosis begins with three stages; the first is developing a rapport with the subject. In other words by agreeing with everything they say you will be ensuring the subject is comfortable with you.

The second stage, while not exactly trickery, is to add a little confusion, nothing alarming or overly drastic, just enough to throw the subject a little off balance. When you do this it puts the person in a more vulnerable state, throwing them off guard. While in this state a person normally wants resolve from being confused and is open to solutions and suggestion to escape the feeling of confusion.

The third stage of the principles of conversational hypnosis has everything to do with timing. While the subject is still in a state of confusion they are also distracted. It is while they are in this state that your window of opportunity is waiting for you to plant your suggestion. Remember that conversational hypnosis is subtle. Conversational and covert hypnosis works, but not on everyone.

Of course as with anything else you are trying to learn and master the principles of conversational hypnosis takes patience and practice. When beginning it is a help if you are somewhat familiar with your subject so that you will know if you are reading them correctly.

How Hypnosis Works

Few parts of modern medicine are surrounded by mysticism than hypnosis, but it isn't any mysticism or magic about it. Hypnosis (from Greek "Hypnos" sleep) is a method to put a person in hypnotic state that's is known as a shift in the ordinary state of conciseness. Hypnosis is a tool to create the mind susceptible to suggestions, that make the mind overcome the barriers that hold you back in real life. Hypnosis also make the individual relax. In the prosess tension and the troubles of the day will disappear.

Hypnosis is created through words. Words influence us to a certain point were they can make us angry or sleepy, or they can stimulate the ego sensitivity in us. We can feel "heavy" or lightness, much heat or cold. Sleepiness and relaxation will often happen.

When a person enters hypnosis, certain physical changes will happen. You will notice the breathing become heavier, mild, and rhythmic. Lips and neck will become dry, and you get a needy sensation to swallow.

Arms and legs, the hole body becomes heavier, your head begins to bend down, your eyelashes and eyes will blink more often, while you become drowsy while nearing sleep.

You will concentrate on the voice of the person hypnotising you, and while you enter hypnosis you will not only notice the voice but also the sounds around you, that will seem louder. Many thoughts will pass through your mind and with questions that you elsewhere would not think of when not hypnotised. You will physically feel relaxed, lightness or emptiness, but the most important thing is that even though these thoughts pop into your mind you will not object to the suggestions that come from the hypnotist, because you really don't want to open your eyes or move off the chair at the same time.

Per definition hypnosis is provoked in the body as a overload of senses that clouds our objection processes, and unleash our fight or flight mechanism, that in the end result in hypersuseptibility that gets us access to the inner conciseness.

Hypnotherapy is used to cure addiction to smoking, weight reduction, improvement of confidence and to develop certain skills.

Hypnosis can also be abused to make people do things they usually wouldn't do, often used in parties and magic shows. And hypnosis is also "used" in some porn films were the man hypnotizes the girl to his bidding.

How Can Conversational Hypnosis Help You?

Conversational hypnosis is the technique of hypnotizing people you are talking with without them realizing it. Certain phrases, words, intonation and voice level weave together into a suggestive message that speaks to the subconscious of your subjects. This is a very powerful tool that can help you influence others and uses a gentle form of mind control. You won't be able to make someone jump in front of a bus (but why would you want to???) but through the techniques of conversational hypnosis, you can learn to manipulate the mind of others.

How does this technique help you improve your life?

• You'll earn more money by attracting many more customers and by getting better business deals and contracts.

• You'll sell more of whatever you're selling. Using hypnosis as a salesperson, sales leads will turn into customers in numbers you won't believe.

• Others will agree with you more often. You will be perceived as powerful and charismatic. You'll be a real leader.

• You'll be able to have relationships like you've always dreamed of. Suggestions can help relationships overcome obstacles to your happiness, so you can enjoy the kind of relationship you really want.

• You'll hear the word "yes" more than ever before.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many ways to apply this technique to help improve your life. Conversational hypnosis isn't something you can teach yourself by reading an article, however. You will need to invest some time and money to get the proper training that will help you learn this powerful technique. Once you've achieved mastery over this technique, you'll earn back your investment many times over very easily. You'll experience overwhelming change in your life.

Hypnotize Yourself Right Now - 10 Steps To Hypnotize Yourself Today

I want to show you a really interesting technique to hypnotize yourself. It is known as the Betty Erickson technique as she devised it to hypnotize yourself. Betty’s husband Milton Erickson is someone I have referred to on several occasions in my work as a renowned hynotherapist and psychiatrist and someone whose work seems to hypnotize me all the time. This technique to hypnotize yourself is entirely attributed to her. Hypnotize Yourself Betty Erickson Method:

This method to hypnotize yourself is based on the following premises and ideologies. While there are a number of counter-examples to these notions, they will be of value in understanding and utilizing this method to hypnotize yourself.

We think our thoughts in pictures, sounds and feelings.

When we think in pictures we refer to the external things we see and the internal images that we create. This includes remembered images ("What does your bedroom look like?"), constructed images ("What would it look like if it were redecorated?"), as well as the actual, real things we see about us.

When we think in sounds these are the things we hear and the internal sounds that we create. This includes remembered words or sounds ("Think of your favourite pop song"), imagined words or sounds ("Imagine that song being sung by someone else"), and also includes your internal dialogue as well as all of the real, actual, live sounds around us.

Thirdly, are the things we feel. These can be actual physical sensations or imagined ones. Can you imagine being at the seaside and paddling in the cool sea?

Most of us use one of these ways of thinking more than the others; though we each use all three of them. Since this is usually the case, an individual who "thinks" in images wouldn't hypnotize themselves the best simply by visualising.

Focused Attention:

Stereotypical images of hypnotists holding watches or other fixation devices for clients to stare at are the result of much misunderstanding about hypnosis. I for one have long ago banished my velveteen smoking jacket and watch on a chain for more modern methods of hypnotic induction! The experience of hypnosis is typically an inwardly focused one in which we move away from the environment around us and turn our attention inward. This technique to hypnotize yourself is doing that even more.

Hypnotize Yourself Technique:

Step 1: Find a comfortable position and get your self relaxed and settled. Get into a position that you will be able to maintain easily for the time you are going to hypnotize yourself. It can be sitting or lying down, though sitting is recommended to prevent you from falling asleep. Get yourself centred, just looking in front of you and breathing slowly and easily. Let yourself relax.

Step 2: Think about the length of time that you intend to spend in this state and make a statement to yourself about it such as "I am going hypnotize myself for 20 minutes ... " (or however long you want) You will be delighted to discover how well you "internal clock" can keep track of the time for you.

Step 3: What would you like to get out of this? Make a statement to yourself about the reason you want to hypnotize yourself. In this process, you allow your unconscious mind to work on an issue rather than giving suggestions throughout, (that is another technique) so our purpose statement should reflect that fact. Here's how I recommend you phrase it to yourself : " I am going to hypnotize myself for the purpose of allowing my unconscious mind to make the adjustments that are appropriate to assist me in _____________."

Filling in the blank with what you want to achieve such as "developing more confidence in social situations." The actual words aren't nearly as important as the fact your statement acknowledges that you are turning this process over to your unconscious mind.

Step 4: Looking in front of you, notice three things, one at a time, that you see. Go slowly, pausing for a moment on each. It is preferable that they be small things, such as a spot on the wall, a doorknob, the corner of a picture frame, etc. Some people like to name the items as they look at them - "I see the hinge on the door frame".

Step 5: Now turn your attention to your auditory channel and notice, one by one, three things that you hear. (You will notice that this allows you to incorporate sounds that occur in the environment rather than being distracted by them.)

Step 6: Next, attend to your feelings and notice three sensations that you can feel right now. Again, go slowly from one to the next. It is useful to use sensations that usually are outside of your awareness, such as the weight of your glasses, the feeling of your wrist watch, the texture of your shirt on your body, etc.

Step 7: Continue the process using two Visuals, then two auditories and then two kinaesthetics. Then, in the same manner, continue (slowly) with one of each.

You have now completed the "external" portion of the process to hypnotize yourself. Now it's time to begin the "internal" part.

Step 8: Now close your eyes. Now, bring an image into your mind. Don't work too hard at this; this is fun, remember? You can construct an image or simply take what comes. It may be a point of light, it may be a beautiful beach, or it could be your car or an apple. I shall not scare you with the ideas that randomly pop into my mind. If something comes to you, just use it. If nothing comes, feel free to put something in your mind.

Step 9: Pause and let a sound come into your awareness or generate one and name it. Although this is technically the internal part, if you should hear a sound outside or in the room with you, it is OK to use that. Remember that the idea is to incorporate things that you experience rather than being distracted by them. Typically, in the absence of environmental sounds; I often imagine hearing whooping hallelujahs from a gospel choir; don’t ask me why, that just happens in my mind.

Step 10: Become aware of a feeling and name it. It is preferable to do this internally - use your imagination. (I feel the warmth of the sun on my face) However, as with the auditory, if you actually have a physical sensation that gets your attention, use that.

Repeat the process with two images, then two sounds, then two feelings. Repeat the cycle once again using three images, three sounds, and three feelings.

Then to complete the process, open your eyes when your alloted time is up - It is not unusual to feel a little bit "spaced out" or wander off somewhat. At first some people think that they have fallen asleep. But generally you will find yourself coming back automatically at the end of the allotted time that you set before you chose to hypnotize yourself. Trust that you weren't sleeping and that your unconscious mind was doing what you asked of it.

Many people don't get all the way through the process. That's perfectly all right. If you should complete the process before the time has ended, just continue with 4 images, sounds, feelings, then 5 and so on. It is a simple way of just getting you acquainted with how to hypnotize yourself.

Who Else Wants To Learn How To Hypnotize Someone?

Do you believe in the power of hypnosis? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to hypnotize someone so that they buy your product, give you that promotion, or give romance a second chance? Hypnotism isn't necessarily about bending people to your will so much as it is about opening their minds to the possibility of accepting your will and it is a powerful form of persuasion on both a personal and a professional level if you put it to work as a positive force in your life.

There are a few things you need to do for yourself however, before you even consider attempting to hypnotize someone else. First of all, you must not only be confident but project confidence in order to be even remotely effective in your attempts to hypnotize others. There are few things that are more hypnotizing than listening to someone talk who is completely secure in him or herself. This alone can be hypnotic. When you combine self-confidence with hypnotic techniques you have created a powerful combination. There are many methods for self-hypnosis that can help you have and project the necessary confidence to hypnotize someone if self-confidence doesn't come naturally for you.

You should also understand that there are many different methods that are often utilized, quite successfully, to hypnotize someone. If your goal is to learn one or more methods you may do well to work out a sort of apprenticeship with a professional and learn from watching and participating in their sessions. This is perhaps the simplest and most effective way to learn the art of hypnotism though certainly not the only way.

There are plenty of videos, books, and instruction guides that can assist you in learning to hypnotize someone or even to help you learn to hypnotize yourself. There are many positive outcomes that can occur as the result of hypnosis. Popular and promising results today that are often discussed are those who use hypnotism for behavioral modifications such as assistance in weight loss and quitting smoking. Self-confidence is another thing that can be gained through effective hypnotism as well as creating a hypnotic personality by overcoming some of the social fears that often prevent us from being our natural, magnetic selves in public.

If you'd like to bring these positive results to your own lives or help others enhance their lives with similar results, then you are a good candidate for learning to hypnotize someone. The idea of helping others is a very noble reason to learn to the skill of hypnotism however learning to help yourself may prove to be an excellent reward for your nobility.

By learning to hypnotize someone you also have the ability to learn to hypnotize yourself. This means you can effectively help yourself in the same ways that you would help others: weight loss, quitting smoking, eliminating panic attacks and managing fears, and creating self-confidence to replace self-doubt and an ineffective public persona. Can you imagine how much your life would improve by learning to improve yourself through hypnosis.

Learn Hypnosis Now

Why would you want to learn hypnosis now? After all the controversy and misunderstandings this topic is associated with. When most people hear of the word 'hypnosis' they immediately will think of these three things.

1. A black and white spiral rotating in front of them which is meant to induce them into a state of hypnotic trance. Perhaps even making you powerless.

2. Another thought that commonly springs to mind when 'hypnosis' is mentioned is someone dangling a pocket clock in front of them. Once again to attempt to induce them into a hypnotized state of mind.

3. Because of all the unbelievable and phenomenal acts hypnotists are able to perform, especially the ones who appear on TV, many people are highly skeptical of hypnosis and assume that the TV shows are stunts with paid actors and actresses. This type of media attention and publicity raises plenty of eyebrows, draws criticism and plenty of questions.

The 'does hypnosis really work?' is a very popular search term on the internet.

Unfortunately, many younger people including children and teenagers will watch these hypnosis TV shows and it will linger with them forever or until they discover how hypnosis really works and how hypnosis can be used for more than getting people to do ridiculous things on television. The internet will help to change the general perception of hypnosis. These days whenever someone is unsure about anything or any topic, they can simply log onto the internet and run a search for their query.

These are some of the other uses hypnosis has; weight loss, an aid to quit smoking, removing phobias, and power of persuasion to gain respect, power and rapport. Other interesting hypnosis related topics include; self hypnosis, feminization hypnosis and clinical hypnosis.

As hypnosis gets more attention and more understanding of its other non-comical benefits and uses, the number of hypnotists will increase but the number of clients will also increase. If all hypnosis techniques were a scam then we would not see so many hypnosis training, hypnosis books and courses doing the laps on the internet. Payment processing companies for these hypnotists or authors would simply ban them from selling their hypnosis products because of a high refund rate. The question is why would you want to learn hypnosis? What do you want it to do for you?

How To Hypnotize A Woman

When you want to hypnotize a woman, there's something that normally happens, i mean when you are searching for a woman you want to hypnotize, though this may not happen to all men because it rarely occurs. Many men experience it and many more will experience it when they are out to hypnotize a woman. It goes like this, you are in a group chatting with some couple of girls or maybe you are with a friend like one or two drinking at a party or some cool spot, while you are doing this, you have got your eyes on a woman in the group and you really want to make something happen fast like make a connection if you know what i mean. The woman maybe the kind that feels hard to get, she smiles while you are looking at her and talks to you politely and friendly but she is not returning your comments the way you want it, if at all. It's like that woman is playing hard to hypnotize whereas her female friend's seem easy to ride with it.This does not always happen because you are not the type of man she wants, as you know this things always happen or don't but there's a different, the reason might be because the woman you want does not seem to be interested in you and to me it's a thing of psychology and social attitude.

Whenever you show you are interested in a good looking woman who is with her friends, you make her feel too big and she will really love to show off her ego, in her mind she believes that you want her and she will like to show this attitude of elevated importance. Meanwhile, she also knows that once she reacts by feeling to be obvious and sexy attracted to you, she will lose the higher values she has over her friends maybe the reason why you targeted her in the first instance, she keeps on her "i am a bit too good for you" status. Probably, you can tackle this situation with what i call deflection theory which is a kind of way to hypnotize women. This is simply a method whereby you twist the situation on her head and turn the psychology of your target woman by deflecting your mind away from her and passing it into one or more of her friends. When you show her friends who has got low social worth or value than the woman you want to hypnotize, you show more affection and closer attention to her friends, you should her ego which she is resisting from you. So in a way to gain her superiority in the midst of her circle friends, the woman you want to hypnotize will subconsciously invest much more interest in you by flirting and being playful, i don't know whether you have noticed this attitude in woman when a man wants to hypnotize or date them, thats a scientifically proven method to hypnotize woman called deflection theory i have said that previously, though it may look confusing but as you read on you will get what i mean.

As a normal character in women, she lets in accepting what she feels she cannot have and of course you will be glad to have that woman. After all she is the hottest in the group of her friends and the woman you've being eying to hypnotize. One of the ways to deflect the attention onto one of her pals is to make the woman you want to hypnotize feel as if her ego has been challenged and won. Thus, is to make her feel an instant and an undeniable desire to get your attention and also win you back.

(1)Try to use a strong eye contact when talking to all of her female friends. Meanwhile, when you are talking to the woman you want to hypnotize, occasionally take your eyes away and towards one of the girls who is busy talking among themselves or maybe to your friends if you are with any at that moment, make a slight smile before looking at the woman of your target. This will hammer a kind of competition into the battling mind of the woman you are really interested to hypnotize and immediately will make her want to gain your attention back.

(2) Casually try to make a kind of close physically contact with her pals more than the way you make with her, e.g touch them on the side of their arms to attract their attention or when joking and laughing.

(3) When sitting down or standing around talking as a group, face slightly more (as in, the direction of your body/torso) in the direction of one of her friends more than her. Using deflection theory to challenge the ego of a woman you're interested is way to hypnotize a woman and therefore make her want you more is just one psychological technique you can use to boost your pick-up game. Combine it with others and you maximize your success with the opposite sex in ways most men have and never will experience.

The author of this article is a great fun of entertainment and also romantic novel, you can find out more on how you can hypnotize a woman by visiting my blog at How to Hypnotize

How to Hypnotize Someone

If you want to learn how to hypnotize someone, it is probably best to learn from a working hypnotist, if possible. Some hypnotists are reluctant to reveal their techniques, both because they may be earning a good living from a few simple secrets, and because they would prefer that their ‘club’ of hypnotists remain small and exclusive.

If you want to learn how to hypnotize someone in particular, you should be aware that it is thought that some very literal minded or skeptical people cannot be hypnotized, and many hypnotists also believe that no-one can be hypnotized against their will. However, this is still a matter of debate. Also, people vary in their levels of 'suggestibility' – this is their natural tendency to go along with suggestions or instructions. A very assertive person with a big ego may make a difficult subject, while a timid or enthusiastic person will be an easy one. But it is not thought the intelligence, sex or age of the subject make any difference in their susceptibilty to hypnosis.

Lately, the techniques of hypnosis have become much better known, and if you want to learn how to hypnotize someone you should pay attention to the following.

First, actually test how 'suggestible' they are. To test suggestibility, you can ask a person to roll his or her eyes upwards as far as they can. The less the colored part of the eye is visible, the more easily they will be hypnotized. Or you can ask them to stare at a small light in a darkened room. You pretend to move it, and ask them if it is moving now. Those who quickly say ‘yes’ will be easy to hypnotize.

You need a calm, safe, non-threatening environment, with no noise or distractions like music or TV.

You ask the subject to close his or her eyes. Allow a short silent period for the subject to become placid and relaxed.

You begin to talk gently, in a reassuring way.

You ask them to do something simple, like raise on finger slowly, and lower it again.

Bear in mind that your goal as the hypnotist is to have a very relaxed subject who becomes oblivious to their surroundings (sometimes this state is compared to being in a state of extreme concentration) and whose focus is on you, and what you are saying or telling them to do. This has been likened to the subject being in a movie theater, enjoying the movie, and being completely oblivious to the others in the audience around them.

Having achieved a suggestible state by using gentle, easy instructions, you can try to 'take command' of the subject's actions. While it may be easy to get your subject to change their posture, blink, imagine a mosquito is buzzing around, or raise or lower their arms, it is much more difficult to make your subject feel you have immobilized their whole body, or are aged 9 again and want a cookie, or can fly like Superman, or have forgotten their own name! But it is possible!

The secret of how to really hypnotize someone like this is to proceed very slowly at first, with requests for easy, gently movements, then requests for simple responses, before moving on to more extreme behaviors or actions. Don’t believe you are ever 'controlling their mind' – your subject is only responding to your suggestions.

The Physical Power of Hypnosis

The proof of how powerful hypnosis can be, comes in many forms. So much so that certain practices have long since been discontinued on the basis ethics and professionalism.

Some years ago, a fairly common practice in stage hypnosis was to induce a state called the full body catalepsy. In this state, the “subject” experiences a complete rigidity of all the muscle groups in his body. He/she becomes completely stiff, like a piece of wood. As a demonstration, stage hypnotists would often position the subject’s head and feet on opposing chairs, without support through the torso and legs. This created a sort of human bridge, upon which the hypnotist would sit or stand.

The full body catalepsy contains no therapeutic use whatsoever. It serves merely for theatrics, and it’s obviously quite frowned upon today. It is unlikely to be seen very much these days for ethical reasons. Despite the fact that you’re unlikely to see such a stunt, it remains a strong example of how powerful hypnosis can be. The act of turning a person’s body into a rod of iron with mere suggestion is quite simply an amazing feat.

To a greatly lessened extent, catalepsy is still used today, but only on isolated body parts like an arm or a leg. This is done to deepen the state of hypnosis, and bears no risk of injury to the subject unlike the full body catalepsy. In fact, they don’t even feel any discomfort. For instance, I can induce hypnosis on someone, and bring about arm catalepsy, and they can remain in this position for an extended period of time, even an hour, without feeling a thing. Try this at home, and within a few short moments, you will feel extremely uncomfortable.

Hypnosis is its own form of pain control. A technique called glove anesthesia can be induced where the hand can be made to feel numb, and experience a total loss of sensation. The anesthesia can then be transferred to other parts of the body by putting the anesthetized hand on another body part, such as the stomach. This is a very powerful technique which I have used many times with great success.

A more subtle example of the power of hypnosis is witnessed regularly if you watch competitive athletes, like runners, as they mentally prepare for a race. There extreme focus and concentration takes them to a place where everything else is tuned out, and they are literally running every inch of that race in their mind, before it even begins, mentally planning every step.

Fortunately, we needn’t go to severe extremes anymore to prove the power of hypnosis. The theatrical impact of hypnosis has of course dropped in popularity over the past decade or so anyway, and practices such as the full body catalepsy are a thing of the past. There is no longer the need for hypnotists to demonstrate the amazing power the mind has over the physical body. The general public is much more aware of the power and effects of hypnosis these days, even if there are still many myths that still remain.
